According to the California Highway Patrol and several news sources across the state, a man from Turlock was unfortunately killed as the result of an accident last Saturday.
The 29-year-old man from Turlock was an occupant in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that a 27-year-old man also from Turlock was driving on Santa Fe Grade near Los Banos when the vehicle drifted off to the right shoulder. The driver attempted to bring the vehicle back to the lane but ended up overcorrecting it and losing control of the truck. The Chevy Silverado rolled off the road and ended up resting on its top in a ditch alongside the road.
The passenger was pronounced dead by the authorities.
According to the several news articles covering this accident, the motorist was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The CHP had to airlift the injured driver to the nearby hospital after sustaining severe injuries as a result of the accident.
The authorities claim that since Highway 140 and 165 have been both closed for construction work, the rural road of Santa Fe Grade has been seeing much more traffic than before.
The California Highway Patrol and the local authorities are investigating the crash, charges are still pending.
